چکیده
Although extensive aging and strain (bake hardening, BH) studies have been carried out on dual-phase steels, the behavior of dual matrix structure (DMS) ductile iron (DI), as a potential way to improve its mechanical properties, has not addressed until now. This research was designed study DI with ferrite-martensite structure. DMS-DI martensite volume fraction 30% produced by intercritical austenitizing at 785 °C followed quenching in water room temperature. Aging treatments were without pre-straining temperatures 140, 170, 220 for 2–10,000 min. investigated light optical microscopy (LOM) unaged samples scanning electron (SEM) selected after treatments. The effect conditions properties investigated. Microhardness measurements ferrite also examined function conditions. increase yield strength due determined. results indicate that small ultimate tensile UTS. It is shown increased maximum value 45 MPa (~11% increase) particular time, which found be dependent peak response decrease strength, observed attributed tempering confirmed microhardness measurements.

Effect of Dynamic Strain Aging on Isothermal (473K) Low Cycle Fatigue of Ferritic Ductile Cast Iron
The ferritic ductile iron (FCD400) is widely used as industrial material. As regards to its high temperature application, fatigue at elevated temperature, and advanced mechanical properties has been investigated and clarified. In low cycle fatigue (LCF), the S-N curve is presented by the relation of plastic strain to the number of cycles as fatigue life, which can be predicted by the Manson-Cof...

متن کاملOn the Brittle-Ductile Behavior of Iron Meteorites' New Experimental Constraints
High-velocity (-•2 to -•5 km/sec) impacts into octahedrite iron meteorites (Gibeon, El Sampal, and Arispe), steel, and iron targets were made at the NASA-Ames Vertical Gun Facility. The experiments clearly revealed the brittle behavior of meteorites at very low temperatures (<200 ø K) as indicated by spallation of the crater rim and the development of deeply penetrating fractures in the meteori...
متن کاملCasting and stress-strain simulations of a cast ductile iron component using microstructure based mechanical behavior
The industrial demand for increased component performance with concurrent reductions in component weight, development times and verifications using physical prototypes drives the need to use the full potential of casting and Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations to correctly predict the mechanical behavior of cast components in service. The mechanical behavior of the component is determined b...
